1. Information we collect
Account and profile information
When you create or use an account, we may receive your email address, an internal account identifier, sign-in timestamps, and account status. If you choose an available Google, Apple, or Facebook sign-in option, that provider may give us your name, email address, profile image, and a provider-specific identifier. We request the basic profile information needed to create and secure your account.
Membership and purchase information
If you buy a direct membership or digital item, Stripe may send us your name, email address, order or subscription identifier, payment status, and limited payment descriptors such as card brand and last four digits. We do not receive or store your full payment-card number. We may also retain records of checkout acceptance, cancellations, and refunds.
Patreon
If you connect Patreon, we may convert your confirmed Patreon email into a one-way digest and compare it with the campaign roster to locate a membership. When there is a match, we may check with Patreon to confirm the campaign, account and member identifiers, email, membership status, and eligible tier. We keep the identifiers and entitlement information needed to maintain Patreon-linked access.
Device, usage, and security information
Our hosting, authentication, video-delivery, and security providers may process IP address, browser and device details, requested pages, timestamps, referral information, cookies, session tokens, playback requests, and error or abuse-prevention logs. We use this information to operate the site, maintain sessions, deliver media, troubleshoot problems, measure performance, and prevent fraud or automated abuse.
AI helper
When you use the AI helper, we send your question and a limited amount of recent conversation context to Google to generate a response. Our request asks Google not to store that interaction. Google may still process limited information for safety, abuse prevention, and legal compliance under its own terms. Do not type sensitive, confidential, health, payment, or credential information into the helper.
Newsletter and onboarding
If you ask for the newsletter, we send your email address to Beehiiv and may keep records of when and how you subscribed, confirmed, or unsubscribed. Newsletter signup is separate from account creation. Declining it does not affect sign-in. Marketing messages include an unsubscribe method.
Community submissions
If you submit a suggestion, problem report, video link, video upload, profile information, or reaction, we may keep the submission, its title and file details, the account it came from, moderation decisions, and any reply. Uploaded video files may be stored with our video provider. Reaction and purchase records may be associated with your account.
Discord
If an eligible account requests a private community invitation, we may record that an invitation was issued and used. Discord separately controls your Discord account and activity under its own privacy notice.
Approximate location
An optional demonstration feature may send your IP address to a location-lookup service and return an approximate city and network. It runs only after you ask it to.
Files and text used with Book Saver
Supported document files are processed on your device by browser code. Tech Robinhood does not intentionally upload, retain, or review the contents of those files, the extracted text, or the generated Reader Pack. Do not submit private material if your browser or device is managed by someone else. We design analytics and diagnostic tools so they do not capture uploaded filenames, document text, editor contents, or generated files.
Messages and requests
If you contact us, request support, join a mailing list, or make a privacy request, we collect the information you provide and records needed to respond.
2. How we use information
- Create, authenticate, and protect accounts.
- Confirm free, direct-paid, and Patreon-linked access.
- Deliver courses, videos, tools, downloads, support, and account messages.
- Detect abuse, enforce rate limits, investigate security events, and protect service resources.
- Maintain, test, improve, and understand the performance of the site.
- Send newsletters or promotions when you have opted in, subject to your unsubscribe choice.
- Generate AI helper responses and moderate community submissions.
- Process payments, renewals, cancellations, and refunds, and keep related records.
- Comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
3. When we disclose information
We disclose information only as reasonably needed for the purposes described above, including to:
- Supabase for authentication, account, consent, community, and access records.
- Google when you choose Google sign-in and when you use the AI helper.
- Apple or Meta (Facebook) when you choose that provider’s sign-in option, if available.
- Patreon when you connect or verify a Patreon membership.
- Stripe for direct checkout, subscriptions, fraud prevention, refunds, and payment records. Lemon Squeezy may retain legacy subscription records but is not the current checkout provider.
- Beehiiv for requested newsletter delivery, subscription confirmation, and unsubscribe handling.
- Discord when you accept a private community invitation.
- A location-lookup service when you use the optional approximate-location feature.
- Bunny.net for protected video storage and delivery, including video you submit.
- Netlify and related infrastructure providers for hosting, network delivery, logs, and security.
- Email providers for authentication messages, support, and newsletters you request.
- Professional advisers, law enforcement, regulators, or a successor business when legally required or as part of a legitimate corporate transaction.
We do not sell personal information or mailing lists, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are used in state privacy law. Some outbound links are affiliate links, and the destination merchant may learn that you arrived from us. If we introduce advertising or retargeting technology that amounts to a sale or share, we will update this notice and provide any legally required opt-out before using it.
4. Cookies, analytics, and tracking choices
We use necessary browser storage, cookies, and similar technologies for sign-in, session renewal, access control, security, and site preferences. Embedded or linked services may apply their own technologies under their privacy notices. As of this policy's effective date, we do not intentionally deploy cross-site advertising or retargeting pixels on the account or Book Saver pages.
Embedded video players may set their own cookies when you play a video and may identify a viewer who is signed in to that provider. Because browser "Do Not Track" signals are not governed by a single accepted standard, the site does not respond to them in a special way. You can block optional browser storage in your browser settings, although necessary account features may stop working.
5. Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including providing an active account or membership, documenting consent and transactions, handling refunds and tax or accounting obligations, moderating submissions, protecting the Services, preventing fraud, resolving disputes, and complying with law. The period for a record depends on its nature, the sensitivity and risk of the information, whether an account or submission remains active, and any legal or contractual requirement that applies. When information is no longer reasonably needed, we delete or de-identify it, subject to limited backup, legal-hold, fraud-prevention, and provider-retention requirements. Service providers may apply their own retention schedules. Locally processed Book Saver files and generated Reader Packs are not intentionally retained by us.
6. Your choices and privacy requests
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know what personal information we hold, receive a copy, correct or delete it, limit certain uses, opt out of practices covered by applicable law, and appeal a denial. We do not treat you differently for exercising a privacy right. We respond within the time required by applicable law and may request information reasonably needed to verify that a request is authorized.
You may unsubscribe from marketing email through the link in each message. An authorized agent may submit a request for you if they provide appropriate written permission and we can verify the request.
Send privacy requests to seanald@techrobinhood.com. Include the email address associated with your account and describe the request. We may retain limited records of the request and our response.
A signed-in user may request permanent account deletion from the Account page. If the account has an active direct Stripe subscription, we stop and verify its future renewal before deleting the account. The account closes and its sign-in sessions are revoked, although an already-issued access token may remain valid until its normal short expiration. Deletion does not refund the current paid period. A Patreon membership must be canceled through Patreon. If the page reports that a legacy or conflicting billing record requires review, email seanald@techrobinhood.com from the account address so we can verify billing and complete the request. We may retain or de-identify records as described in the retention section above.
7. Children
Tech Robinhood is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13, and we do not serve behavioral advertising. Purchases, video submissions, and the AI helper are limited to users 18 and over. If we learn that we collected information from a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including managed authentication, access controls, encrypted network connections, and server-side checks for protected media and paid features. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Protect access to your email and device, and contact us if you believe your account has been misused.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. We will post the revised policy here, change the effective date, and provide additional notice when applicable law requires it.
